Spelunky 2 Unlock Characters Guide – How to unlock the 16 hidden characters of the game (Coffin locations and Ending rewards)

Spelunky 2 Unlock Characters – Starter Characters

You don’t need to unlock these characters, because they are already unlocked:

Ana Spelunky: You don’t need to unlock this character, available from the Beginning
Margaret Tunnel: You don’t need to unlock this character, available from the Beginning
Colin Northward: You don’t need to unlock this character, available from the Beginning
Roffy D. Sloth: You don’t need to unlock this character, available from the Beginning

To unlock these characters you need to open certain coffins in certain locations:

Alto Singh: Open the coffin in Dwelling 1-4, at the bottom of the level after facing Quillback
Liz Mutton: Open a coffin in any level of the jungle
Nekka the Eagle: Open a coffin in the Black Market
LISE Project: Open a coffin in any level of Volcana
Coco von Diamonds: Open one of the coffins in Vlad’s Castle
Manfred Tunnel: Open the coffin in the sub area of Olmec’s Lair
Little Jay: Open a Coffin in 4-1 or also 4-2 of Tide Pool
Tina Flan: Open a coffin in the waters of Abzu
Valerie Crump: Open a coffin in 1-2 of Temple of Anubis
Au: Open a coffin in the City of Gold
Demi von Diamonds: Open a coffin at the beginning of the Wet Fur cave in Ice Caves.
Pilot: Open a green pod in the Mothership
Princess Airyn: Open a coffin in 6-1 of Neo Babylon
Dirk Yamaoka: Open a coffin in Sunken City, inside the stomach of a deceased Goliath Frog

To unlock these characters you need to complete the game, they are endings rewards:

Gay Spelunky: Complete the game’s normal ending (defeat Queen Tiamat in Neo Babylon and exit through the main door in Tiamat’s Throne)

Classic Guy: Defeat Hundun in Sunken City and take the exit at the top of Hundun’s Hideaway to complete the game hard way
