My heart is reeling. There's so much I want to write about race and violence and injustice. But that will have to wait. I have no capacity just now. To be honest I find myself without insight or wisdom. I have nothing but lament. The world is wounded. Deeply deeply scarred. This country-among all other countries- is broken by injustice, division, corruption, fear. These are universal human heart issues at work in the quiet places of each one of us. It's easier to see these symptoms in those around us, those that are different from us. It's harder to identify our own consuming fears, our own drivenness to divisiveness, our temptations to corrupt and our tendencies to inequity.
We desperately need a Savior to intervene at the heart level of every single one of us. We need a Savior who understands humanity. His heart is inclined to the oppressed. He offers True Liberty and Real Justice for all beyond the borders of one country's broken promises of the same. He delights in all his children; whatever the color of their skin. We need a Savior to save us from relentless selfishness and teach us once again to love.
In the face of these past days with such complexity and so much pain we cannot remain silent...and yet what can we possibly say? I am mute but I'm pleading for mercy and healing, for hope and miracles.
