This is an interesting look at the evolution of cycling computer systems. It goes back to the original round device in the 19th century when these devices were mostly used by clubs and competitions. For this blog post, I used (and modified) a real-world cycling computer, the Garmin Edge 535, to study the evolution of cycling computer technology.
