Story: South of Hope Street starts when Denise (Frederick) notices things others don’t. These include a second moon and weather conditions that the news doesn’t report. Elsewhere, LT Daniel Winthrop (Baldwin) looks to keep outbursts quiet. Denise meets Tom (Nelson) and other outsiders in a post-war world, struggling to find a place.
Denise finds hope in others experiencing the same changes as she tries to understand the changes. However, it builds a bigger mystery to what is happening outside of the city and the government rushes to keep things secret.
Verdict on South of Hope Street
South of Hope Street is a sci-fi mystery following a woman who starts questioning the world she lives in. She doesn’t understand the regulations and learns about wanting to relax. However, it puts the government on her trail, as they don’t want people thinking for themselves.
This movie feels like a blend of ‘Equilibrium’ and ‘1984’ creating a world where the government controls everything. However, it steps out on its own by being more accepting of people who are different and who notice the small changes in reality. It exposes things which might not be known to the followers but could have massive consequences for the world. This jumps into the mind-bending reality, where you never quite know what is happening in the world. It creates a massive world of paranoia, which leaves plenty of questions. Along with having great performances from characters who look to enjoy the world.
