49ers dismiss special teams coordinator Schneider from coaching staff
The San Francisco 49ers have fired special teams coordinator Brian Schneider after a disappointing 2024 NFL season. Schneider, who had been with the team for two seasons, was unable to improve the team's struggling special teams unit. The 49ers had issues with kick and punt returns, as well as field goal kicking and punting. Head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch will now begin the search for a new special teams coordinator to address these areas of concern in the offseason. Schneider previously spent time with the Seattle Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars before joining the 49ers.
