Posted on the 28 December 2022 by L'Express

As soon as winter arrives and the temperatures drop, certain ailments reappear and, among them, the sore throat. Not very serious, the sore throat can quickly become restrictive on a daily basis. But fortunately, there are different treatments to make it disappear and to protect against it.

Medication

When you have a sore throat, you automatically think of taking medicine like throat numbing spray, among others. Effective against mild sore throat without fever, this spray contains lidocaine which has the effect of locally relieving pain. Only, this kind of medicine only works if the sore throat is not very pronounced and can be used from the age of 12 and not recommended for pregnant women. Otherwise, if you prefer, there are also treatments based on lozenges to be sucked with different aromas.

Natural methods

If you prefer to use natural methods, know that salt water offers very good results against sore throat. Just put half a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and rinse your mouth and spit out the water as with mouthwash. Honey poured into a cup of hot water or an herbal tea can help speed up the healing of your sore throat. Finally, do not hesitate to drink plenty of water, but also herbal teas and soups to soothe your pain.

Consult your doctor

If despite these treatments, your sore throat does not go away after a few days, it will be best to go to a doctor. By explaining all your symptoms to the doctor, he can offer you a more effective treatment depending on what you have. In any case, in case of a sore throat, it is better to rest well and avoid going out, especially if it is cold outside. Stay warm and take care of your throat so that the situation does not get worse, because a simple sore throat can quickly turn into angina or laryngitis.

Don’t be left with a sore throat. From the first symptoms treat yourself either with drugs or with natural treatments, but in any case, do not let a sore throat drag on if you do not want complications.
