Verdict on Sorcery
Sorcery is a horror mystery following an Indigenous girl who dives into the dark arts to get revenge on a farmer. It uses the divide between the Indigenous people and the invading community wanting to use them and take their land and shows the darkest side of humanity.
This movie explores the horror Indigenous people faced from communities invading their land and hurting their loved ones. It dives into traditions offering a supernatural connection used to fight back and get revenge. Instead taking them on face to face where they would struggle to overpower them. There is an air of unease, which is used from the real events and the supernatural potential events. This keeps us on edge, wanting to see what Rosa has planned for her revenge. Valentina Véliz Caileo is brilliant in the leading role, showing the pain her character suffers and the evolution she goes through.
