I am a little tongue tied when it comes to introducing today's wedding. It is elegant yet laid back, coastal yet super chic, and the images by FRANK & PEGGY PHOTOGRAPHY are breathtaking! Gorgeous couple Sophie & Michael met in Spain and spent two years sailing the Pacific before the wedding (I know, right... total couple crush!) and with their creative skills and resourcefulness, they created a day that was relaxed, beautiful and uniquely them. Enjoy!

Tell us the one quality you love most about each other?

We met while working overseas in Spain. Funnily enough we were two Kiwis living in Mallorca, who met through friends at a live music night at an Irish Pub (of all places!?!)

In three words describe your wedding style...

Sort of strange but we both love how each other are resourceful, I guess sort of hunter-gatherer/practical?

What were your save and splurge items for your wedding?

Laidback Coastal (with a touch) Elegance

Splurge was on catering, tapas style food on long tables with canapes and fresh oysters during cocktail hour. Very lucky to save on bridal party attire, my mum is a very talented seamstress who made all the bridesmaids dresses and my wedding dress, actually dresses (I had an over dress to wear for the Ceremony and then took that off for more of an evening gown look)

Where did you go for you honeymoon and why?

Oh yes we did a lot of DIY!! Bench seats, ceremony arch, painted shells for place settings, mirror wall behind bridal table, drinks and food menu holders for the table, flags for the driveway, three mantle piece style benches that had candles, decorations behind the bridal table, the bridesmaids and my own flowers plus table arrangements, antipasto table and dessert table.. just a few things.

Originally we hadn't planned on a honeymoon as we spent two years sailing the Pacific before the wedding so had a bit of a Pre-Moon but our families surprised us with a trip up to Fiji mid winter as a lovely getaway to one of our all time favourite places.

Possibly hiring some specific help for the day after shenanigans as we ended up doing a lot ourselves. Honestly it was the most amazing day/weekend with so many of our closest family and friends from near and far it's hard to say we would change anything other than start earlier so it lasts longer!!

You know, we love a good party and wanted it to be so special for our people but in the end it just came down to the fact that on the day with everyone there it was going to be epic no matter what, which it was! So I guess in short don't get caught up in the minute details, it will all fall into place and you will all have the most amazing time!

I guess it is just special knowing you are a complete unit, two of you together. Plus in order to be married you have a wedding, which in itself is an amazing part of being married, as you can look back on that day/weekend for the rest of your lives and it constantly brings happiness.
