Exeter’s Soot Sprite have shared new single ‘Vicious Cycles’ ahead of the release of debut album ‘Wield Your Hope Like a Weapon’ via Specialist Subject Records on 16 May, 2025.
A reflective and slow-burning piece with gothic atmospherics that bring to mind Anna Calvi or Hovvdy – but with the edgier emo stylings of Sweet Pill – the song finds Elise Cook looking back over past behavior and the damaging impact it had on everyone involved in previous relationships: ‘I’ve been stuck in vicious cycles nothing in this world can stifle. Spinning in the thoughts around me, dizzy with this spite for myself’.
