- Sony has announced an event on September 17th for its Xperia line.
- It is believed that the company will announce the Sony Xperia 5 II.
Sony released a high-profile phone for the Xperia 1 II earlier this year. It is now announced that there will be another Xperia launch next month.
The Japanese electronics company quietly announced an event on September 17th at 4:00 pm JST (3:00 am CET) and confirmed that it was a "new product announcement" for the Xperia line. Check out the poster below.

Then what could it be? We suspect it's the Sony Xperia 5 II as a render courtesy of veteran tipster Evan Blass leaked this week. The picture shows a phone that is largely identical to the Xperia 5, but with optimized side buttons. There's no word on whether the new phone will be smaller than the Xperia 1 II as the Xperia 5 was actually smaller than the Xperia 1.
Hopefully Sony is implementing a drastically improved camera experience in the new phone as this was one of our biggest problems with the Xperia 1 II. For one, the company offered three apps for photos and videos if one well-designed app (or two at most) would have worked. Additionally, some features such as HDR and 4K / 60fps recording were only available in one app and not the other.
