Story: Somewhere starts as we meet a Hollywood actor Johnny Marco (Dorff) who has decided to live in a remote luxury hotel. He doesn’t make any lasting connections with anyone except his 11-year-old daughter Cleo (Fanning). She brings him the only real grounded relationship, as he seems to let time pass by.
As Johnny spends more time with Cleo, he starts to wonder if everything he is doing is right. He starts to look at correcting his time with her and his future in the industry.
Verdict on Somewhere
Somewhere is a romantic comedy exploring the life of an actor, living an empty life. The only positive he sees is his daughter, with most encounters being fleeting. He has gotten used to this life and now he must decide what his future holds.
This movie gets to explore a father-daughter relationship that is trying to be kept outside of the celebrity life. It also gets to show how difficult life in the spotlight can be for somebody. Elsewhere, we see the empty environment and life of not having many close friends. A strong message is reflected in the empty life we find the characters living through.
Final Thoughts –Somewhere is a strong look at the empty life celebrities can live.
