Verdict on Something in the Water
Recap
The movie follows five friends who head out on the water for a break before a wedding. However, they get attacked by a shark and find themselves trapped in the open water waiting for either rescue or the shark to finish them off.
Best Parts
When it comes to friendship, and the motivation to bring them together. That is the strongest part of the movie along with the recovery process from the opening sequence.
Worst Parts
In recent years, the shark movie has been done so often it is getting almost boring to watch the same ‘stuck in the ocean’ idea. This falls into the same plan idea where the friendship breaks down and they make the same stupid mistakes. It plays into the idea that being cheap and wanting risky adventures can leave you fighting for your life. We find ourselves going down the same idea of one who can’t swim, one who is a great swimmer and the one who causes all the problems. There is nothing new here and it becomes as predictable as the rest.
Final Thoughts -Something in the Water is predictable and fits the shark movie 101 selection.
