#SomeonesListening by @SeraphinaNova

By Pamelascott

Faith Finley has it all: she's a talented psychologist with a flourishing career, a bestselling author and the host of a popular local radio program, Someone's Listening, with Dr. Faith Finley. She's married to the perfect man, Liam Finley, a respected food critic.

Until the night everything goes horribly wrong, and Faith's life is shattered forever.

Liam is missing-gone without a trace-and the police are suspicious of everything Faith says. They either think she has something to hide, or that she's lost her mind.

And then the notes begin to arrive. Notes that are ripped from Faith's own book, the one that helps victims leave their abusers. Notes like "Lock your windows. Consider investing in a steel door."

As the threats escalate, the mystery behind Liam's disappearance intensifies. And Faith's very life will depend on finding answers.

This is my first time reading the author. I loved the title, something about it made my flesh crawl and I knew I had to read it. As far as thriller's go, Someone's Listening ticks all the boxes I look for: well-written, interesting characters, twists and turns, misdirection and a fast pace, elements found in abundance in this book which compelled me to keep turning the pages. The author knows how to build tension and suspense. I loved the fact the chapters bounced back and forth between the present and events in Faith's past that led to the moment her life is twisted and turned upside down. Faith is a great character, privileged both academically and financially, who is yanked down from her ivory tower by the roots of her hair. She survives a car accident but police insist she was alone in the car even though she remembers her husband was a passenger. It doesn't help that the police uncover clues that indicate he's abandoned her and set off for a new life and her insistence he'd never do that sounds more and more like delusional ramblings. Someone's Listening packs a punch.
