Story: Some Kind of Hate starts when bullied teenager Lincoln (Rubinstein) fights back against the bully. Leading him to be sent to a reform school, where the bullying doesn’t stop. As the kids in the school led by Willie (Harrell) continue to harass him.

Reaching the end of his pain, he unwittingly summons an evil spirit of Moira (McCormick). A former resident of the school, one who committed suicide in the past. Who has been harbouring the pain waiting for her chance to get revenge on any bullies in the world.

Thoughts on Some Kind of Hate

Some Kind of Hate is a horror thriller that will touch on a disturbing subject of suicide. Showing a bully fighting back before being sent to reform school. Finding the new location not changing anything. Before summoning an evil spirit that is looking to make any bullying suffer.

This will end up going down as a film that touches too heavily on the suicide side of things, because every time the spirit appears. It looks to create a different version of suicide, not holding back or accepting things could have been handled wrong. There isn’t a deeper discussion about what it going on. Just a vengeful spirit looking to make the people or other bullies lives hell after them taking their own life to escape the suffering.

This will go down as a very hard watch, despite the simple concept behind everything, being something we have seen plenty of times. The performances in the film are fine, with Ronen Rubinstein being the strongest in the leading role. As the one character that seems to be calmer despite the anger his character is going through.
