This album of hitherto unpublished live recordings and rare and in some cases unpublished studio items reflects some of the most vital elements of Sir Georg Solti s life in music over a six-decade period, from 1937 to 1997. It is a centenary testament to his powerful presence, not only as a major influential force in the opera house and concert hall, but also as a discoverer and champion of the very finest young singing talent of his time. In particular it includes many of the leading ladies of opera he believed in and supported, and there is also a concert in which he joins one of his favourite younger pianists. Additionally, some of his chosen singers can be heard with him in a unique rehearsal document that has never appeared before.
