An update on the two offensive comments in threads at Commonweal and National Catholic Reporter that I highlighted in a posting here yesterday, one using the term "sodomite" as an anti-gay slur, the other using the term "pansy":Commonweal appears to have removed Wayne Sheridan's offensive comment about "sodomites," and I am very grateful to the moderators of threads at that journal for responding to complaints about Sheridan's use of the term.
National Catholic Reporter has now closed the thread in which Miriam uses the term "pansy" as an anti-gay slur, while disclaiming responsibility for using it in that way. I still see her comment standing.
