Social Media Users Beware!

By Lisaorchard @lisaorchard1

Hello everyone, I hope all is well with you. I’ve been busy with work and writing this week and also running. It’s hard to go to the gym when it’s so cold out, but I managed to get there four days out of seven. I’ve also added some strength training to my repertoire, so I’m a little sore. LOL! But enough about that. Today, I’d like to talk about something strange that happened this week.

Twitter is one of my social media sites I’m active on. I follow Bob Odenkirk and Saul Goodman on Twitter because the two shows “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” are my all time favorites. Recently, I received a notification that Nate Odenkirk followed me. I thought that was odd. Why would Nate Odenkirk follow me? I checked the picture on the account next to one on the internet, and it sure did look like him. So, I followed him back.

Not long after that, I received a message from him. I found this extremely odd. Why would Nate Odenkirk reach out to me? I confess, my curiosity got the best of me. He expressed gratitude for all the love and support I gave his dad and asked me if I had a chance to talk to him, what would I say. I responded that I would tell him he’s a great actor and I enjoyed both “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul.”

Then he asked me if I was on Signal. I didn’t know what it was, so I looked it up. It’s a messaging App much like Messenger. I told him No I wasn’t on it, and I wasn’t interested in joining.

He then told me that his dad (Bob Odenkirk) wanted to talk to me. I asked why we couldn’t chat via Twitter. He told me his management team wouldn’t allow it. I found that extremely odd. I told them I wasn’t going to join Signal, and so far I haven’t received any more messages.

I told hubby about this odd interaction, and he told me to be very careful. People pose as celebrities to try and get information out of you to rip you off. Now, I know this happens. I’m not that naive, but I didn’t expect them to be so blatant about it.
Be careful out there. Social Media is full of predators.
