Social Media Ridicules ‘Pakistani Students’ for Using Tricolour in Ukraine. They Are Actually Indians

New Delhi: An image that shows students “Pakistan” and “Turkey” using the Indian flag to escape Ukraine has become a viral on social media. Many Facebook users have explored Pakistani students with the text: “One was reminded of their father (read India) during the crisis period.”

News about Pakistani and Turkish students using Tricolor to escape Ukraine is true and has been reported by several media outlets.

Ani has posted a video of the incident on March 2. Wion, NDTV and News 18 have also published reports similar to the correct photo.

But photos that accompany this news on social media are not true.

The photo showed off the Indian multi-branch efforts to evacuate residents through a land limit after the Ukrainian government closed the country’s air region following a Russian military attack.

Fake photo continues to be circulated

News about Pakistani and Turkish students using Tricolor to escape Ukraine is true and has been reported by several media outlets.

Ani has posted a video of the incident on March 2. Wion, NDTV and News 18 have also published a similar report, talking about how Pakistani and Turkish students made the Indian flag Daringshift out of the curtains, using color spray.

Although some true depictions of the incident, the wrong image continues to be used by Facebook users, with text that mock Pakistani students to use “Indian identity”. It has also been used as a tool for fans of patriotic sentiments in this crisis.
