My son switched from txt msg to Kik about a month ago and it really threw me for a loop. I was used to randomly checking his texts, but took me a couple of weeks to realize his text inbox was empty because he had switched to a new app. He texts constantly, usually to girls, and his content is too provocative and sometimes completely crosses the line. As much as we redirect him and counsel him and consequence him on this, he seems to keep doing whatever he can get away with. Now, my husband and I are thinking of uninstalling all of his apps except ones for productivity, like calendar and checklists. we may still allow the camera, but that seems harmless as long as there’s no app to post the actual pics. I’m wondering if this move will be so extreme that it starts a tug of war. Any thoughts?

In the United States, 81% of people say they look online for news of the weather, first and foremost. National news at 73%, 52% for sports news, and 41% for entertainment or celebrity news. Based on this study, done for the Pew Center, two-thirds of the sample’s online news users were younger than 50, and 30% were younger than 30. The survey involved tracking daily the habits of 2,259 adults 18 or older.[59] Thirty-three percent of young adults get news from social networks. Thirty-four percent watched TV news and 13% read print or digital content. Nineteen percent of Americans got news from Facebook, Google+, or LinkedIn. Thirty-six percent of those who get news from social network got it yesterday from survey. More than 36% of Twitter users use accounts to follow news organizations or journalists. Nineteen percent of users say they got information from news organizations of journalists. TV remains most popular source of news, but audience is aging (only 34% of young people).

There’s endless reasons why digital marketing makes an excellent solution for so many businesses, but you’re just getting started, here’s the two that will have the biggest impact on the way you market and sell to your customers.

Nobody really needed another Facebook clone, so Google+ had always been widely criticized for being a social network that nobody really used. In late 2015, a brand new Google+ was rolled out to put more emphasis on its Communities and Collections features to help differentiate the platform a bit more and give existing users more of what they wanted.  More »

Social media is as homogenous from network to network as soda pop is from brand to brand. Sure, it’s all social media, but Google+ and Twitter might as well be Mountain Dew and Pepsi. Each network is unique, with its own best practices, own style, and own audience.

Shifting the focus to the time span, we may need to measure some “Interim Metrics”, which give us some insight during the journey itself, as well as we need to measure some “Final Metrics” at the end of the journey to inform use if the overall initiative was successful or not. As an example, most of social media metrics and indicators such as likes, shares and engagement comments may be classified as interim metrics while the final increase/decrease in sales volume is clearly from the final category.

Let’s suppose that we are creating a new and shiny social network, where our users can post articles with related media like, pictures, videos, or even music. Users can comment on posts and give points for ratings. There will be a feed of posts that users will see and be able to interact with on the main website landing page. This doesn’t sound really complex (at first), but for the sake of simplicity, let’s stop there (we could delve into custom user feeds affected by relationships, but it exceeds the goal of this article).

It can be easy to forget now, but there was a time when group texting wasn’t natively supported in iMessage. Good thing we had GroupMe, which made it possible for groups of friends to seamlessly communicate in one conversation. Better yet, it was cross-platform, so you could message friends whether they were on Android, BlackBerry or who-knows-what. Now group texts are part of iMessage (not to mention every other messaging app) so GroupMe isn’t quite as relevant as it once was. But with advanced notification controls and built-in GIF search, it’s still one of the best ways to keep tabs on giant group message threads.

Disney/Pixar’s Monsters University: Created a Tumblr account, MUGrumblr, saying that the account is maintained by a ‘Monstropolis transplant’ and ‘self-diagnosed coffee addict’ who is currently a sophomore at Monsters University.[81] A “student” from Monsters University uploaded memes, animated GIFs, and Instagram-like photos that are related to the sequel movie.

About 90 percent of Mr. Vaynerchuk’s tweets are direct replies to people who have written to or about him. Ideally, these people will become acolytes or, better yet, will post a video describing the wonder that a knock on the door and a free cheeseburger can induce, as the guy in Minnesota did.

Prioritizing clicks refers to display click ads, although advantageous by being ‘simple, fast and inexpensive’ rates for display ads in 2016 is only 0.10 percent in the United States.
