“social Commerce -life Without Social Media”

It’s true — it seems like Google+ is a site that’s being used pretty responsibly by kids, parents, and teachers — its tools lend itself very well to keeping track of school stuff and can definitely enhance communication between students and educators.

Houseparty – Group Video Chat is a way for groups of teens to connect via live video. Two to eight people can be in a chat together at the same time. If someone who’s not a direct friend joins a chat, teens get an alert in case they want to leave the chat. You can also “lock” a chat so no one else can join.

If anything, social media is probably about to move more toward ephemeral sharing for quicker, more intimate sharing without the stress of having to blast something out to hundreds or thousands of followers that stays up there unless it’s manually deleted. Instagram has already made the move toward ephemeral content sharing with its Snapchat-like stories feature, so maybe more platforms will be soon to follow.

Just to give you an opinion from a teens point of view: I am 14 and I use most of these. And most of them can only be dangerous if your child is looking for danger. On Snapchat, you could be harmlessly sending pictures to your friends. In settings it gives you the option to only recieve pictures from people that you add on snapchat. Out of all of these I think instagram is the least dangerous. Like I said before you are only going to find danger if you’re looking for it. You can make your page private so people must request to follow you. And you will only see other people’s photos whom you follow. Out of all of these I use Twitter and Tumblr the most. On tumblr, you only see content from the blogs you follow so your child should not be following any blogs that are posting Pornographic images anyway and same with twitter. Oovoo is not bery dangerous either because you can only video chat and message people if they add you and you also add them so just make sure your kid isn’t adding anyone they don’t know. Omegle is really just a TERRIBLE website. Even on the safe chat people are still naked and I don’t use that website at all. I LOVE VINE. Many of the 6 second videos are hilarious. I guess I would say the only problem is language. But if someone swears a lot in their vines or does something you don’t like then your teen should not follow them. And of course, ***YOU CAN ALWAYS MONITOR THEIR SOCIAL MEDIAS*** Just follow them on twitter, instagram, tumblr, add them on facebook etc. You will be able to see anything they post. Unless they block you. But if they do block you, you could just take all their social media away!! CONGRAYS IF YOU READ THIS UNTIL THE END BC THIS IS SO LONG!

Google+, in addition to providing pages and some features of Facebook, is also able to integrate with the Google search engine. Other Google products are also integrated, such as Google Adwords and Google Maps. With the development of Google Personalized Search and other location-based search services, Google+ allows for targeted advertising methods, navigation services, and other forms of location-based marketing and promotion. Google+ can also be beneficial for other digital marketing campaigns, as well as social media marketing. Google+ authorship was known to have a significant benefit on a website’s search engine optimization, before the relationship was removed by Google. Google+ is one of the fastest growing social media networks and can benefit almost any business.

Using Facebook in class allows for both an asynchronous and synchronous, open speech via a familiar and regularly accessed medium, and supports the integration of multimodal content such as student-created photographs and video and URLs to other texts, in a platform that many students are already familiar with. Further, it allows students to ask more minor questions that they might not otherwise feel motivated to visit a professor in person during office hours to ask.[224] It also allows students to manage their own privacy settings, and often work with the privacy settings they have already established as registered users. Facebook is one alternative means for shyer students to be able to voice their thoughts in and outside of the classroom. It allows students to collect their thoughts and articulate them in writing before committing to their expression.[224] Further, the level of informality typical to Facebook can also aid students in self-expression and encourage more frequent student-and-instructor and student-and-student communication. At the same time, Towner and Munoz note that this informality may actually drive many educators and students away from using Facebook for educational purposes.

Even though a bunch of the kids in my class use this ‘Instamagram’, they’re too young for it obviously. I think that those social networking things have to validate if one is too young to use it, example like how Nintendo charges 50 cents to your parents to make sure that either your parents helped you or not.

Webinars. As they’re a more detailed, interactive form of video content, webinars are an effective consideration stage content format as they offer more comprehensive content than a blog post or short video.

Think of regular media as a one-way street where you can read a newspaper or listen to a report on television, but you have very limited ability to give your thoughts on the matter. Social media, on the other hand, is a two-way street that gives you the ability to communicate too.

When I went rock climbing for the first time, I had no idea what I was doing. My friends and I were complete newbies about ropes and rappelling and every other bit of jargon and technique that goes with climbing. We saw others doing it spectacularly well. We were thrilled at the thought of reaching the top of the climbing wall; we had no idea how to get there.

We could have a “latest” stream with posts ordered by creation date, a “hottest” stream with those posts with more likes in the last 24 hours, we could even implement a custom stream for each user based on logic like followers and interests, and it would still be a list of posts. It’s a matter of how to build these lists, but the reading performance remains unhindered. Once we acquire one of these lists, we issue a single query to Cosmos DB using the IN operator to obtain pages of posts at a time.

Beginning in the late 1990s, social network analysis experienced work by sociologists, political scientists, and physicists such as Duncan J. Watts, Albert-László Barabási, Peter Bearman, Nicholas A. Christakis, James H. Fowler, and others, developing and applying new models and methods to emerging data available about online social networks, as well as “digital traces” regarding face-to-face networks.

This is so well written Kevan! i love how you guys integrate your own graphics, which could act stand alone content pieces for social postings to this post! I definitely agree that voice and tone and considering the “mindset divide” for various channels is so important!

Knowledge management could take place in traditional small businesses (such as coffeehouses and ice cream parlours) just by using the owner-proprietor’s own memory of his key customers, their preferences, and their client-service expectations. However, with the shift to national or even multinational e-commerce businesses which operate online, companies are generating far more data on transactions for a single person or even a team to grasp just in their memory. As such, 2010-era global e-commerce firms typically use a range of digital tools to track, monitor and analyze the huge streams of data their businesses are generating, a process called “data mining”.

Social networking websites allow individuals, businesses and other organizations to interact with one another and build relationships and communities online. When companies join these social channels, consumers can interact with them directly.[6] That interaction can be more personal to users than traditional methods of outbound marketing and advertising.[7] Social networking sites act as word of mouth or more precisely, e-word of mouth. The Internet’s ability to reach billions across the globe has given online word of mouth a powerful voice and far reach. The ability to rapidly change buying patterns and product or service acquisition and activity to a growing number of consumers is defined as an influence network.[8] Social networking sites and blogs allow followers to “retweet” or “repost” comments made by others about a product being promoted, which occurs quite frequently on some social media sites.[9] By repeating the message, the user’s connections are able to see the message, therefore reaching more people. Because the information about the product is being put out there and is getting repeated, more traffic is brought to the product/company.[7]

By using Internet platforms, businesses can create competitive advantage through various means. To reach the maximum potential of digital marketing, firms use social media as its main tool to create a channel of information. Through this a business can create a system in which they are able to pinpoint behavioral patterns of clients and feedback on their needs.[26] This means of content has shown to have a larger impingement on those who have a long-standing relationship with the firm and with consumers who are relatively active social media users. Relative to this, creating a social media page will further increase relation quality between new consumers and existing consumers as well as consistent brand reinforcement therefore improving brand awareness resulting in a possible rise for consumers up the Brand Awareness Pyramid.[27] Although there may be inconstancy with product images;[28] maintaining a successful social media presence requires a business to be consistent in interactions through creating a two way feed of information; firms consider their content based on the feedback received through this channel, this is a result of the environment being dynamic due to the global nature of the internet.[25] Effective use of digital marketing can result in relatively lowered costs in relation to traditional means of marketing; Lowered external service costs, advertising costs, promotion costs, processing costs, interface design costs and control costs.[28]

In early 2013, Steve Joordens, a professor at the University of Toronto, encouraged the 1,900 students enrolled in his introductory psychology course to add content to Wikipedia pages featuring content that related to the course. Like other educators,[222] Joordens argued that the assignment would not only strengthen the site’s psychology-related content, but also provide an opportunity for students to engage in critical reflection about the negotiations involved in collaborative knowledge production. However, Wikipedia’s all-volunteer editorial staff complained that the students’ contributions resulted in an overwhelming number of additions to the site, and that some of the contributions were inaccurate.[223]

The temptation at this point might be to jump right in and start sharing. Just one more step before you do. Your foray into social media will be more focused and more on point if you come up with a voice and tone for your content right off the bat.
