Soccer Mommy (Sophie Allison) has shared the Alex Ross Perry-directed short film for her epic 7-minute new single ‘yellow is the color of her eyes’. She has also announced details of a world tour in 2020, which includes a stop at the Electric Ballroom in London on 18 June.

Sophie explains that ”yellow is the color of her eyes’ is a song that is really important to me. The song was inspired by a time when I was on the road constantly and I felt like I was losing time – specifically with my mother.’

Featuring Mary Lattimore on harp, the country-tinged song is filled with sadness and regret as Sophie opens up about her feelings and human mortality: ‘The tiny lie I told to myself is making me hollow. I’ve been choking on truths that I couldn’t swallow. I’m falling apart over a memory’.

As the guitars gently sway along, Sophie offers powerful words that sum up how she’s feeling with goosebump-inducing poignancy: ‘And I could lie but it’s never made me feel good inside, I’m still so blue. I can’t erase the hue, it’s just colored over’;’ Loving you isn’t enough, you’ll still be deep in the ground when it’s done’ I’ll know the day when it comes, I’ll feel the cold as they put out my sun’.
