So Are Windows Phone Any Good?

Posted on the 20 September 2013 by Jyoti Arora @Jy0tiAr0ra

‘So are the Windows Phones any good?’ this questions has been put before me more than once.

Well, I haven’t tested many Windows Phones. But the ones I tested, I found to be really efficient, swift and stable. However, in the end it depends upon the user’s choice about what Operating System they like over the other.

Of course, many people now prefer the freedom of an Android User Interface. But according to a recent report, Windows Phones are not lagging far behind either. Windows Phones have actually been found to be India’s second largest smartphone platform at present.

Very recently, the IDC Asia Pacific Mobile Phone Tracker (For Apr 2013 – Jun 2013) has revealed that Windows Phone Smartphone Platform has been the second most widely used smartphone platform in India for the third consecutive quarter, As per the information I got, Windows Phones Platform currently enjoys a market share of 5.4%, and has maintained its lead over Apple iOS and Blackberry.

The Windows Phone hasn’t just managed to hold the number 2 spot (for the third consecutive quarter) in the battle of the smartphone platforms, it also shows a 60% quarter-on-quarter growth,

According to Manasi Yadav, Senior Market Analyst, Client Devices, IDC India, “Windows Phone powered Nokia Lumia devices have achieved a striking growth in their volumes within a very short time since their launch in India. With new Windows Phone devices getting launched at short intervals, we expect them to continue on this growth trajectory.”

And according to Vineet Durani, Director – Windows Phone Business Group, Microsoft Corporation India Pvt. Ltd., “Less than ten months back, when we launched Windows Phone 8 in India, we had set ourselves the goal of being the second most widely used smartphone platform in India, and we are excited to have achieved this milestone so quickly.”

So, again, are Windows Phones any good? Well, according to the above mentioned report, it definitely seems like more and more consumers are saying a YES!
