My love-hate relationship with Amazon is complicated by my love for my Kindle Fire HD. If you look for something to keep by your bed or to take on airplane rides or on vacation, there's really nothing better than this $199 little gadget, made even cooler when you put it in a case that enables you to hold it more comfortably or even stand it up for hands-free reading (or for Skyping) (or for watching movies on Amazon or on Netflix).A case (from a brand that shall not be named. Mainly because I can't remember) I got when I bought the Kindle Fire was starting to break apart. Luckily for me, since I live a life blessed by the patron saints of gadget accessories, the same day I noticed my case was starting to break, I got an email from the good people at Snugg, offering me this case to review. They have cases for iPads, iPads Mini (or is it iPad Minis?), iPhones, Samsung Galaxy phones (whatever these are), and Kindle Fire, as well as other accessories, like stylus pens, chargers, and iPod Nano watch straps. I emailed back, asking for a Kindle Fire case, and after a two weeks vacation, was able to try it out. Nothing like coming home after two weeks and seeing a package waiting for me.
So here's what I think:
First of all, it is definitely snug. You have to push the Kindle tightly into its location. It made me think I was sent the wrong size case, but once you get it in there, it's great, and makes much more sense than a loose device dancing around in its case.
Secondly, it does everything it's supposed to do, and more. You can make the case stand by itself in horizontal or vertical modes, depending on what you're doing (watching movies/reading).
Thirdly, and what sets it apart from the other case I had before, when you close the case, the Kindle goes to sleep. I know some of you have this feature available with your iPad cases, and you may think it's not a big deal, but this feature is even more important with Kindle Fire, because (and this is just another chapter in my Amazon love-hate saga) the power button on Kindle Fire is annoyingly hard to find/press. With this case, though, that problem disappears.
The reviews on Amazon are very positive, and although I can't review the Snugg cases for other devices, the Amazon reviews for other devices are equally as good.
