Snakebite

By Alip @alisonpikeGD

‘Have you ever tried a Snakebite?’ was my question to friends the other night whilst I was thinking about Friday nights cocktail.  It was met with surprise that I never had one and also a great deal of reminiscing of care free student days. Traditionally it would be made with equal parts lager and cider with a dash of blackcurrant cordial.  Now nothing against students or the drinks they consume (I for one have been there and had a great time!) but I had thought the creations featured in Cocktail Corner would be a little more refined.  So with that in mind here is my take on a Snakebite.

Snakebite

Al’s Snakebite

½ pint lager, I’m using Bud
½ pint Kopparberg cider with mixed fruit
25ml Chambord

Fill a pint glass halfway with the cider add the Chambord then fill to the top with the lager.

Not quite the elegant glass I had imagined….I think it will be back to the martini & margarita glasses next week, Snakebites are best left to the students!
