Smart Appliances & the Kitchen of Tomorrow

By Kravelv

The smart kitchen appliance market has grown substantially since the beginning of the decade and is projected to triple between now and the end of 2019. Appliances such as smart cookers and refrigerators which seemed so futuristic and unrealistic not that long ago are now becoming a regular feature in kitchens across the world. It probably won’t be much longer until such equipment is commonplace in people’s homes.

What exactly can these smart appliances do to make our household lives easier? Smart refrigerators allow you to check the contents inside it without having to open the door and look around; it displays its contents through a mobile app. Smart cookers automatically program the time it takes to cook certain meals so that you won’t burn the family dinner. Smart dryers can detect when clothes are dry and will switch off automatically, saving money and energy.

Furthermore, these appliances are just the start of a technological revolution in the kitchen. It is expected that, in the not too distant future, we will have washers that use dry ice instead of water and recycled water being directed to urban cultivators that will enable us to grow vegetables indoors.

To see how modern day technology can drastically change how we carry out our kitchen chores, take a look at the infographic below from Pennywell (www.pennywell.ie).
