A strange virus is sweeping the globe. Humans have become allergic to one another. Simply standing next to somebody could be a death sentence. A kiss could be fatal.

Angela is a woman trying to get by in this bewildering new world. Though she still lives with her husband and children, they lead separate lives. Confined to their rooms, they communicate via their computers and phones. In some ways, very little has changed.

That is, until she spots a mysterious stranger walking through town without even a face mask for protection. A man, it seems, immune to this disease. A man unlike anyone else she knows. A man it might just be safe to touch.

Skin is one of the best books I've read all year. I cannot recommend this book enough. I read it in two sittings because I loved it so much. This is one of those books you don't want to stop reading once you start and you never want the book to end. I loved the premise and had high hopes for the book. I was not disappointed as Skin exceeded every expectation. Angela is the narrator and I loved her voice, she sucked me right into the story. The chapter alternate between present events when Angela becomes increasingly fascinated by this mysterious man she encounters and flashbacks to events in the past when the strange virus is discovered and what this does to the world. This works really well and I loved reading both storylines. Skin does not end up where I expected it to, even after things start to get darker and darker so hats off to the author for stunning me. Skin is a true masterpiece.
