A protest campaign from Kandy to Colombo organized by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will commence from Kandy main supermarket premises at 9.00 am on April 26. During the six-day protest campaign, the participants will stay overnight at the main cities of Mawanella, Galigamuwa, Danowita, Yakkala, Peliyagoda and reach the Colombo Town Hall on March 1, International May Day.
Speaking to Daily News, SJB National Organizer Tissa Attanayaka said this is the first time that the SJB will hold such a massive protest campaign from the hill capital with the objective being to urge the Government to reduce the prices of essential food items.
