Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday expressed serious concern over the current deteriorating political atmosphere in the country.
He said Parliament should be immediately summoned to discuss the matters and steps that should be taken to resolve this problem.
He said people are on the streets demanding that the Government immediately scrap the Presidency as there is no other alternative to resolving the on-going crisis in the country.
Premadasa further said the Government should focus attention towards the escalating prices of essential items.
He also urged the Government to reduce the prices of consumer items considering the plight of the country’s poor people.
He said it is pathetic to see people languishing in long queues around the country to buy essential items such as milk powder, gas, petrol, diesel, kerosene oil etc., due to the Government’s inability to provide them with adequate goods.
