NailsSince the last time I wrote about Dukes of New York just over a year ago, they have had a change in line-up by recruiting singers Michelle Major-Butler and Zoe Bradbrook.

This has brought a new dimension to the music from DoNY, and the band are going for more of an alt-rock, almost grunge feel these days.

Their new single, “Nails“, has a theme of helplessness in a way, making us think of the situation we are in and how we got here – did we actually have a choice in the matter?

There is an intensity to the song that matches the subject, manifesting itself in the soulful vocals of Michelle and skilled guitar playing of Will. Have a listen for yourselves and see what you think…

The single will be released on 2nd October, and there are two live dates to coincide with this. Firstly, on Thursday 1st October at 8:00pm, they’ll be appearing at “Suffolk Songwriters”, an open mic night for original music helf at The Steamboat Tavern, Ipswich. On Saturday 3rd October, DoNY are playing a one-day busking tour of Suffolk, moving between Ipswich, Woodbridge and Bury St. Edmunds. Get along and see them if you can!
