Silver Shoes for Work, Play and More: My Picks

By Wardrobeoxygen

Silver Shoes for Work, Play and More: My PicksI am on a serious silver shoe kick. I have my silver oxfords which I've been rocking for a couple years and they only get more comfortable with each wear. For two summers I have been loving my silver Birkenstocks with most everything. There's my silver pumps which seem to go with everything, and now I also have these silver slip-on sneakers and my new silver booties. Silver has always been my favorite color of metal; I've had my silver cuff since 1998 and even before that loved the look of it. Well it's my luck, metallic shoes are HOT right now, and there's a ton of silver options available.

Silver and other metallic shoes may seem too specific and well, ridiculous to be added to a small wardrobe but I can attest to the fact that they are a fantastic neutral. Just like a bold silver necklace, a big metallic cuff, or a pair of shiny statement earrings, a pair of silver shoes can add that little punch that can take a look to the next level. As I write this, I am wearing a black sweater, black faux leather-front pants, my silver cuff and my silver slip-on sneakers. With black shoes, I would look like a stagehand but with silver I look cool and purposeful. A metallic shoe is a way to look dressier while wearing a flatter or more comfortable style, and silver is stylish all four seasons of the year.

I know many of you have asked for shoes similar to the ones I owned so here's a round-up of Allie-approved silver shoes. Flats, heels, and everything in between, there should be one to fit most any personal style and budget! For those who aren't into silver, most of these shoes come in other colors!

Get the comfort, cushioning, and capability of a sneaker but in a shiny silver finish! These shoes will do double-duty for function as well as fashion. Pair with cuffed and girlfriend jeans, style with a shift or T-shirt dress, or tone down the girliness of a full skirt or dress!

For work or for play, it's great to have a comfortable go-with-all shoe that has some flair. A metallic silver flat looks great peeking out of wide-leg trousers, is a smart pairing with crisp ankle pants, goes boho chic with maxi skirts and sundresses, and looks sweet with everything from jeans to girly frocks.

I love silver brogues, it makes a very serious shoe whimsical and better fits my "classic with a girly rock and roll vibe" style. They're more substantial than a flat, and work really well with menswear, trousers of all leg widths and hem heights, add polish to jeans, and look so cute when paired with skirts and dresses. This is likely the shoe I get the most requests for; last year it was tough to find "similar" for outfit posts when I wore my silver brogues; now there's a bunch to choose from in a good variety of styles and pricepoints!

Like brogues or oxfords, a loafer is a classic shoe with a bit of a menswear vibe that seems all the more awesome with a metallic finish. In a silver color, a loafer can leave the boardroom and rock the weekend or even happy hour. A silver loafer will look great at the office, but also be a wonderful update to jeans of all silhouettes and lengths.

A silver boot is a great way to add some shine to most any look. This is a great way to rock some shine in the colder months as your ankles are covered, but booties also look great with skirts, dresses, and girlfriend jeans!

Whether you're packing for a tropical vacation, live in a warm climate, or are preparing for the upcoming seasons, these are some great warm weather silver styles that will jazz up everything from shorts and knits to floaty sundresses.

A silver pump is a wonderful alternative to nude or black and from personal experience I can tell you they go with everything!

A silver strappy heel is a wardrobe workhorse. Dressing up a pair of jeans or coordinating nicely with most any dress in your wardrobe, you'll be shocked how such a shoe will be worn so often all throughout the year.
