On one of my frequent trips to Hawaii I finally got around to visiting the Naval Air Museum Barbers Point only to find that it had been forced to shut down by the State to allow for airport redevelopment. Hence I had to settle for what I could photograph thru the fence. Here is a Sikorsky UH-3H Sea King that was delivered to the US Navy in 1960 and served time with the presidential transport squadron HMX-1 during the Nixon/Ford years. First flown in 1959, the Sea King was specifically designed for the anti-submarine warfare (ASW) role and was one of the first ASW rotorcraft to use turboshaft engines. More than 1,300 were produced and many remain in service in nations around the world. The Sea King has also been built under license by Agusta in Italy, Mitsubishi in Japan, and by Westland in the United Kingdom. Fuji X-E2s w/18-135mm.
