Signing Up for Dependence on Independence Day

By Abstractartbylt @artbylt

Today on the Fourth of July, 2011, Adrian and I would have been married for 30 years.  We chose Independence Day to celebrate our vows of dependence on each other, promising to share our future lives and fortunes.  So it is with sadness as well as joy that I celebrate the day.

We got married in bare feet and jeans, a good omen for our future.  The first rule of clothing for both of us was that it be comfortable.  As an artist, my clothes often were covered in paint.  As an athlete, Adrian's had to allow him the space and support he needed to move freely.

After the ceremony at home with our family and friends, we drank champagne, danced, and played ping-pong with our guests.  Thirty years later, I dedicate today's drawing to Adrian:
