Showing the Love: Love,Cortnie

By Wardrobeoxygen

I'm proud to be a DC fashion blogger. We have a large community, and through it I have met some of the most talented and wholehearted people. Some I'm friends with IRL, some I only know virtually, but all are great people. One of them is Cortnie Elizabeth from the blog Style Lust Pages and the bag company, Love,Cortnie. While Cortnie no longer lives in the DC area (you Floridians are some lucky folk), she's still a great woman with a great bag company.

A couple of years after attending FIDM, Cortnie found herself in between jobs. She took this opportunity to finally have her grandmother teach her how to sew. For the majority of her life, Cortnie's grandmother sewed, reupholstering furniture, creating drapery, making her own clothes and even clothes for Cortnie. The two set up shop in Cortnie's grandmother's kitchen and after three hours Cortnie had created her first bag. A week later Cortnie opened her Etsy shop with only three bags available. One was sold that very first day of business. Cortnie introduced her clutches on her blog, where her readers encouraged her to keep making them. Now Love,Cortnie has an online boutique and Cortnie's bags have been featured on some of the hottest blogs and carried by local fashionistas. I bought a Love,Corntie bag this summer and it has become a favorite. I love supporting women-owned and USA-made businesses and it's even better when the woman behind the brand is a lovely person.

Some of my favorite Love,Cortnie bags are the cheeky Comic clutches. In a bold shade of yellow hand-painted with action words from comic books and a matching comic book-themed lining, the bags surely make a statement. They're the perfect way to add humor to an LBD, a pop of color to a look of neutrals, or finish a graphic look with Crayola hues. I know many of you are comic book fans, and though this would be an adorable accessory to help you express your personal style. The Comic Mini Statement Clutch is big enough to carry your essentials, or would make for a fantastic makeup bag you'd be excited to pull out of your purse. Cortnie has been kind enough to gift one Wardrobe Oxygen reader with her Comic Mini Statement Clutch!
