I am not sure when it became fashionable for the groom and his friends to attend the bridal shower. It was just a few years ago that I was attending my friend's daughter's shower and was shocked to see men there.
Listen...we love you...but please stay home. Showers are a girl thing. Maybe I am old fashioned- don't worry-I won't be offended. I have been accused of this already. Bridal showers are a time women get together and oohhh and ahhh about spatulas and Kitchen Aid mixers. We giggle about rainbow color condoms. And marvel, on how big our kids have gotten
It is a time for a mother to brag about her daughter and her wedding party to dazzle her with crepe paper and mini cupcakes. Our interests for the day are not whether you ate enough or are missing the game. We want to play stupid puzzle games for useless prizes. We crave to make hats with the bows off of the gifts and talk about how we are in need of new towels.
I know you won't be terribly disappointed by being uninvited. What man really wants to spend a day hearing about the 856 hour long labors or how wonderful the latest diet craze is? You couldn't possibly be interested in menstruation, Peri menopause or tales of Botox parties.
So enjoy your time home. Kick off your shoes...turn on the game...don't worry...we will bring you home some cake.
