People live busy lives these days and there's never enough time for anything. When I first started this blog and the 'Garden Dreaming at Châtillon' website in March 2013, I was trying to create a personal record of my garden that others might also pass by and appreciate. I love the website (although it's not perfect!).
It has allowed me to do many things, not least of which is to find a platform for information about the French village I live in - there's very, very little written in English - and to write about being a vegetarian in France. And then I discovered the world of garden blogging and realised I wanted to make gardening friends, as well as just to write about my garden and village. I wanted to be part of a community!
Being on Weebly with this blog has been a little bit like living a mile off a main road. I can mess around and do what I like - and that's always lovely! I used to work as a journalist and editor for gardening magazines in the UK. There's nothing to beat the buzz you get from seeing an inspirational page spread (especially late at night!) - and thinking, this is it, the bees knees! I will always love my Weebly website (where you are now!) for allowing me to recreate those special moments at my own desk way back then. But when I worked in magazines, the point was to share pictures and text. Otherwise there's no point. So I've decided that it's difficult to be living a mile off a main road and ...
I've set up a new website: http://gardendreamingatchatillon.wordpress.com/
I hope this will allow me to be more 'sociable' (there's lots of other garden bloggers there, and you'll find them on my 'Blogs I Follow' link). WordPress actually seems to understand that we are all busy and makes keeping up with what friends are doing so much easier. (Although there are other things I've already discovered that I don't like about it!)
This site will remain for the foreseeable future, but unless I find I've something to write about that can't be said on WordPress, this will be my last post here. So thanks for stopping by for the grand finale!
I hope to be posting on WordPress on Monday when I contribute to Cathy at Rambling in the Garden's meme, 'In a Vase on Monday'. I'll also be carrying on with Lucy's Tree Watching meme on the 7th of each month (and linking back to my first post here). My own garden musings could happen at any time - most likely on Wednesday for 'Wordless Wednesday' or on a Friday or Saturday night.
Meanwhile, more than one garden blogger whose posts I enjoy has written next to their comments box: 'Comments here are like welcome rain to flowers'. I hope you'll be interested enough to join me on the other side at http://gardendreamingatchatillon.wordpress.com/ - and leave a comment!
