This rare example is one of many large aircraft in the collection of Kermit Weeks and stored/displayed at his Fantasy of Flight facility outside of Orlando.  It has been announced that FoF will be closing to the public on April 7, 2014.  I am posting a selection of photos highlighting some of Kermit’s many aircraft, one of the largest private collections of flight-worthy historic aircraft in the world.  The Sunderland was a British flying boat patrol bomber developed for the Royal Air Force (RAF) by Short Brothers.   First flown in 1937, it was in service with the RAF until 1959.  Of the seven surviving Sunderland aircraft this one is the only one maintained in airworthy condition.
