This aircraft is the cornerstone of the Oakland Aviation Museum’s collection.  Originally built as a Seaford S-45, this was an upgraded version of the Sunderland designed for long-range reconnaissance in the Pacific theater during WWII.  In 1947, all of the aircraft were returned to Ireland for conversion to the Solent airliner configuration and flew commercially with BOAC until 1950.  This aircraft was used to film scenes for “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark” in 1981.
