Just a little over 2 months after launching out of Beta, Google new domain name registrar Google Domains is showing as the number one organic entry under Google when you search for the term “domains” replacing registrars like Godaddy.co,, Network Solutions.com, 1and1.com, NameCheap.com and Domain.com
Google Domains is also ranking organically, number 2 under the term “domain registrar” number 4 for the term “domain” number 6 for the term “domain registrars”
Not bad for a site that just launched two months ago.
The actual website of Google’s Domain name registrar is https://domains.google.com , although as we have noted before Google owns GoogleDomains.com as well as the new gTLD Google.Domains
GoogleDomains.com forwards to the subdomain that Google is using for the registrar but the domain name Google.Domains is not even being forward to the registrar, it does not resolve although the domain is on Google Servers:
Here is the search results for the term “domains” on Yahoo:
Here is how it looks on Bing:
Of course the point is that no other search engine is ranking Google Domains and pretty much anyone who has ever done SEO or had a website would tell you its pretty unusually for a two month old site to rank on the first page of Google for any well searched term and maybe a record setter for ranking number one.
Lets also point out that the results page for the term “Domains” is full of ads both under the search term and on the right side down the page showing you just how competitive that term is for domain registrars and others in the space to get one the first page of.
