Shiny, Bouncy Hair with Earth Science Deep Conditioning Masque

For me, deep conditioners should have the balance of lots of moisture, but without leaving my hair limp or greasy. Earth Science walks this fine line perfectly. Their Olive & Avocado Deep Conditioning Masque provides moisture, while my hair is left very bouncy and shiny.

The smell of it is lovely. It’s floral with a hint of citrus, and actually stays on the hair after rinsing. Normally I’m not one for super strong smelling hair products, but I really like this scent so it’s nice to catch a whiff of it later in the day. Because the fragrance is stronger and is listed as “fragrance” on the ingredients list, I followed up with Earth Science to make sure it is phthalate free. The assured me their fragrance is only made with essential oils, is phthalate-free and naturally-derived. Sweeeeeet.

As I mentioned before, my hair is left bouncy after using this. It’s not weighed down or limp at ALL. Since my hair is very fine/thin, most conditioners will weigh it down. The fact that this is a deep conditioner and doesn’t weigh it down makes me very happy.

While this does provide a lot of moisture, if your hair is SUPER dry/fried, you may need some a little extra something. Straight oil masks (like Aromatherapy Associates Enrich Hair Oil) may be a good idea, with this used then after shampooing out the oil. For most hair though, I think you will find this provides plenty of extra moisture for a deep conditioner.

Now for the ingredients!

Aqua (Water), Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Amodimethicone, Trideceth-12, Cetrimonium Chloride, Panthenol, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Olea Europea (Olive) Oil, Hydrolyzed Silk Protein, Ethylhexylglycerin, Cetyl Esters, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance (Parfum).

After water, the first few ingredients are emollients, thickeners and silicones. These will coat and protect the hair strand.

After these ingredients though is the good-for-hair stuff. Panthenol is a form of vitamin B5 that is a natural humectant, meaning it helps retain moisture.

The moisturizing oils are avocado, coconut and olive. These are a nice blend of medium, light and heavy-weight oils. That blend, along with the fact they are lower on the ingredients list, is probably what helps this not be too heavy for fine hair.

This is even includes some silk protein, which can help repair and condition damaged hair.

It has a few preservatives: Ethylhexylglycerin, Potassium Sorbate, and Phenoxyethanol. I’m not a big fan of phenoxyethanol, but it’s not a deal-breaker for me at this point.

So overall, Earth Science’s Olive & Avocado Deep Conditioning Masque leaves my hair conditioned, bouncy and shiny. It even has a few ingredients that will help repair my hair, all while smelling lovely. I love it!
