You never want to wish your life away but the prospect of new albums from Sharon Van Etten and The Twilight Sad – on the same day – in January (the 18th) is making us keen to get the festive season over and done with. Now, the former has released an evocative new video for ‘Jupiter 4’, the second single from forthcoming ‘Remind Me Tomorrow’ (Jagjaguwar). The cinematic piece was directed by Strange Weather’s Katherine Dieckmann – a film that Sharon wrote the score for.
Continuing with the tense sonic soundscapes featured on ‘Comeback Kid’, the glitchy and eerie electronica-tinged song finds Sharon talking about the small parts of a relationship that help you fall for someone: ‘Touching your face’; ‘Turning the wheel on my street, my heart still skips a beat’ before declaring ‘I’ve been waiting, waiting, waiting my whole life for someone like you’ over Low-style ambience. As the track veers towards the end of its six minutes, there are thunderous claps that add a hallucinatory haze which adds another layer – making you doubt whether her love was so real after all…
