Growing up in the 90’s we had our boy bands, Britney Spears and more to listen to. But the one that really made the 90’s and told everyone how she felt like a woman was Shania Twain. Shania was moving up in the Country music genre but her album “Come On Over” helped her branch over to the Pop music scene.
With that album she had number one after number one. She would release another full-length album called “UP!” which had numerous versions (Red – Pop, Green – Country, Blue – International) and a few contemplation albums that contained most of her top singles. We didn’t get much new music from her as she was going through personal matters and health issues.
She came back with an album called “Now”. I like to call this album her break up album as the messages to me are ones talking about her relationship ending and trying to move on. But this past month she released a brand-new album called “Queen of Me”. We had a bit of a taste of this album in the documentary she did on Netflix. I have to say right from the get-go this album had me hooked, but when “Giddy Up!” was released I knew this album was going to be another hit for Shania.
Not only did she make another great album, but she branched out to have the adult content label on her album! Her song “Pretty Liar” has a few choice words to make this album have that label, but I have to say that this is really one of my favorite songs that she has done. Just like her 1997 album, “Come On Over”, I can listen to this album from start to finish without skipping a song. Shania shows us how far she has come in life and how she is still the one to listen to.
A few of my favorite songs off this album are: “Pretty Liar”, “Queen Of Me”, “Number One”, and “Not Just A Girl”. But coming up with just a few songs to pick as my favorite is hard to do with a great album like this. I give this album 5 out of 5 stars and that is hard to do now days.
