Shahi tukda or shahi tukra recipe | Hyderabadi double ka meetha recipe (डबल का मीठा ) is delicious as well as a popular rich traditional bread pudding or bread dessert from Hyderabad originated from the Mughal cuisine. It is popularly known as shahi tukda but it is also known as double ka meetha because it is soaked in sugar syrup and rabid.

Crispbread pieces soaked in sugar syrup and topped with saffron flavoured milk Rabri. It is very easy to prepare with simple ingredients like bread, milk, and sugar. This recipe is a perfect dessert option for a festive occasion.

शाही का अर्थ है "रॉयल", तो पारंपरिक रूप से बने शाही टुकडे का एक टुकड़ा आपको "रॉयल होने" का एहसास देता है।

Shahi Tukda or Hyderabadi double ka meetha recipe:

firstly, deep fried the bread slices in ghee before soaking it in sugar syrup and rabid.
secondly, make sure you always soak the bread slices in warm sugar syrup and in rabdi so that the bread slices absorb it evenly.
Always serve it immediately after soaking, otherwise, the bread slices may turn soggy.
Serve it with some finely chopped dry fruits.

    First you need to cut the edges of the bread. Thereafter, cut it diagonally to form 2 triangles.

To make the sugar syrup, mix sugar and water and set the mixture to boil. Now, simmer the solution for about 8-10 minutes and add powdered Elachi into it.

  1. Take a pan and set the milk to boil. Simmer it until it reduces to 1/4th quantity.

  2. Keep stirring occasionally so that it does not stick to the pan.

  3. Now, add pistachio and few strands of saffron to the thickened milk.

  1. Apply ghee on the sides of the bread and lightly fry them until they turn golden brown on both sides. Dip the bread pieces into sugar syrup, drain well

  2. Arrange the fried bread on a plate.

  3. To serve, pour the warm rabadi over the top ensuring that the toast pieces are evenly covered with the Rabadi.

  4. Finally, garnish with the chopped dry fruits of your choice and serve immediately.
