Gadgets are the best!  They save time. They make things easier. They ease stress and work.  Who doesn’t need a new gadget in their life.  And, if you’re in the kitchen, you probably have some of your favorite gadgets that you just can’t live without.  Well, here are seven of mine, and I’ll share why~~maybe you feel the same way~~maybe you’re gonna check it out and add to your wish list~~most all are simple and relatively inexpensive, but they make a world of difference in my kitchen playground!

I have no idea where I got this gadget, but I LOVE IT! It is sooooooooooo cool as a slicer of cheese, potatoes, zucchini, cucumbers and more. Slicing is so easy and each has those cool little ridges that just add pizazz to whatever you’re cutting. Hard cheeses, like parmesean regianno, can be cut into thin small slices and used as garnishes on pasta dishes. This is my go to ‘dress up’ so much gadget~~I have no idea what it’s called, but I’m sure if you scout around you might find one!

Oh, wow, now this could be an under-appreciated gadget unless you realize what a workhorse it is.  Besides being one heckuva slide scoop for sweswee

Oh, wow, now this could be an under-appreciated gadget unless you realize what a workhorse it is.  Besides being one heckuva slide scoop for quickly sweeping up diced onions, garlic, or whatever your chopping, it’s great to clean your work table where you’ve been kneading bread plus it’s nifty for dividing balls of dough and more. It can trim the crusts off several slices of stacked bread in a skinny minute, too. One of mine has a rubber cover and the other doesn’t~~each has its own personality in the kitchen.

Cookie scoops!  Meatball scoops, Ice cream scoops!  Yep, this little gadget, two sizes here, works hard in Ally’s Kitchen! Measure the amount each holds and then it’s even great for scooping out something like Crisco from a can.

Several of these sifters have found a home in my gadget drawer, and, yes, I use them all because each has a distinct purpose~~I have an antique sift that I use in photography as well.  From squeezing lemons, dusting powdered sugar, straining tomatoes to sifting flour even more finely, you’ll find that different mesh types, from larger to finer openings, can be used for different applications.

Funnels~~oh, how they make life run effortlessly.  Narrow and wide mouthed, these help me get things into containers~~ everything from oils, to soups, sauces and chocolate ganache.

I use knives all the time, and one thing they often do is lose their sharpness, their sliceability, their razor clean edge~~having a good ol’ fashioned sharpening steel works best for me~~oh, yes, there are the electric ones, but I kind of like to ‘feel’ the whizzing back and forth as I whittle the blade. That grinding and honing gives me a feeling of power with my knife~~now there is a strategy and Buck Knives has some tips~~worth reading and learning technique.
