Seven Die As Luxury Bus Conveying 63 Persons Lose Control In Ogun

As many as seven travellers have misplaced their lives whereas seven others sustained various levels of harm in a lone accident on the Ososa bridge within the Odogboolu Native Authorities Space of Ogun State, The PUNCH reviews.

The crash which occurred at about 12:20 am on Saturday, Christmas day, concerned a Mercedes Benz MarcoPolo Luxurious Bus with no registration quantity.

Public Training Officer of the Federal Street Security Corps of the state Sector Command, Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident.

Okpe stated the bus which belongs to Izuchukwu Motors, Onitsha took off from Ojuelegba, Lagos on Saturday evening.

She stated, "A complete of 63 individuals had been concerned which comprised 40 male adults, 15 feminine adults, 5 male youngsters and three feminine youngsters.

"Seven individuals sustained accidents three male adults and 4 feminine adults. A complete of seven individuals had been recorded lifeless from the crash (three male adults and 4 feminine adults.

"49 persons were recorded unhurt (34 male adults, seven female adults, five male children and three female children."

The FRSC spokesperson attributed the causes of the lone accident to suspected wrongful overtaking and lack of management.

She added that the injured victims had been attended to whereas the deceased our bodies had been deposited at State Hospital Mortuary, Ijebu Ode.

She stated, "Nigeria Police Drive MTD from Odogbolu had been contacted and the crashed automobile was handed over to the police and obstruction cleared off the highway.

"The Sector Commander FRSC Ogun Sector Command warning motorists on harmful driving, particularly this era of excessive vehicular motion and evening journey when visibility is poor.

"He suggested motorists to drive defensively, preserve secure pace keep away from evening travels and obey site visitors guidelines and laws.

"The Sector Commander Commiserated with the family of the crash victims and enjoined them to contact FRSC Ijebu-Ode unit command for more information about the crash."
