Hotels? No, I am not ready to talk about the hotel that I stayed in when I most recently arrived into China, for real? Yes! Nanjing, being the first weekend that actually gave me life without a hangover deserved a top class hotel, well boujee at least! Sofitel, I paid those coins because I was curious! Why did they need all that information? B, I wanted a room with that NJ skyline view!
Serving it up like never before, it felt so liberating to be in a position where I could put down a normal amount of money for a two night stay! No, I didn't need to settle for a Travelodge or Premier Inn hotel room, that Jiangsu Province weekend choice wasn't going to be budget! JinJiang Inn, I am not throwing shade on you but she wanted something nice for the weekend! Check-in was easy breezy, my developing Chinese actually wasn't needed because the reception staff spoke English beautifully! Now, my friend Chris assured me that the extra information was nothing like the details they would ask during the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic. I trusted his judgment but what business does any hotel have asking me what my company is called? My visa wasn't not questioned, during previous pre-Pandemic hotel stays those China Mainland hotels fretted like something different until they had a copy of my documents! Not being funny, I was appreciative to be checked in so swiftly and without any issues present. NJ, let's go out out!
That bed was so very soft! Waking up after what felt like a cat-nap wasn't a mood but the view from my 30 something floor room most certainly was! That famous 'Zi Feng Tower' could be seen from my bed, I literally had the room with the view! The bath was one of the main reasons why I had booked that double room at Nanjing's very own Sofitel Galaxy Hotel, sure I did have a little bath but I really didn't have the time! Talking about soft pillows and an almost memory foam mattress, the bed at my first hotel in China since 2019 wasn't the one! I was anxious because I had gotten to know my 'home' bed in my apartment and let me just say I won gold every night for being able to sleep so soundly! I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to sleep so well, no word of a lie because let's face it, I am not getting paid to say such things! Sofitel really ought to hook me up! Now, that wasn't a question! Nanjing felt like the right weekend to keep things boujee, something to remember for certain! Telling the truth, Sofitel served it right!
Leaving my hotel the following morning saw me saving some serious time, my friend had recommended that I grab a coffee from 'Librairie Avant-Garde' instead of one from 'Lawson'. That Sofitel location ensured I arrived at that 'library-looking' meeting point within a few moments, I loved that for me! I did! If truth be told, I didn't spend one single moment at my hotel during the day because I was busier than a buzzing bee! The nighttime allowed me to make the best of that room, consulting my 'go-to APP' because I could! Let me just say having the freedom to take that first weekend trip in China since coming back felt correct, let me tell you what, I was on it! APP consulted, you already know I had my detective boots on because I had a top-secret mission to complete! No, I was for real! Very much! Chilling in the lobby after our spa moment was a whole mood, I knew what I was doing! Nanjing, let's go back to the Sofitel on the double because she's a mood! Don't speak, don't ask because Saturday needed to be right! Okay!
Respectfully, those Nanjing fellas were looking mighty fine but I knew what and who I wanted! The previous night, things did not transpire because I needed my sleep and it was much too late to even fulfill that need! Something was about that Sofitel Saturday night as I waited outside that Galaxy named hotel, don't get up in my business! Ninja style, let's just say that Saturday night takeaway had me acting like my usual self because something extra had been reignited in the best way! Locking the door the right way, Miss Sofitel wasn't going to witness any of my shenanigans because I was going to keep that misters identity dandy shandy. Those lift cards did not impress me much but you already know during that twilight hour, I made that room rate count with full use of the facilities. Pillow talk concluded, Mr. Nanjing rode off on his e-bike into the night. Sofitel didn't have me stressing because after those nocturnal happenings, I knocked out for the rest of the night in my soft bed! Too much information? Find another blog to read!
Breakfast was something that I didn't entertain on the Saturday morning but I paid my coins on the Sunday morning without hesitation. Other hotels looked on with an envious stare because for £6.50 or thereabouts I enjoyed a healthy sized 'English-like' breakfast with '油条/You Tiao' as my potato replacement because those 'hash browns' had not yet been replenished. That was was some serious potato, shade! The dining room where breakfast was served was big enough for us all, no 'supermarket sweep' antics were being played and that saved me a trip to reception to vent. Seriously, I loved my 'Sofitel' breakfast in Nanjing that Sunday morning! Sure, my 'Kashgar' hotel breakfast debacle had left a bad taste in my mouth because those hotel guests ran for that hotel buffet as if they hadn't eaten for a week! As mentioned, Nanjing's Sofitel Galaxy Hotel didn't leave me mad, more like it left me feeling full and satisfied. Sausages, bacon and eggs for our continental breakfast convenience, rack them up because I'm feeling hungry again!
Pastry counter she better don't! Chocolate topped waffle she did! Those breakfast sweet treats impressed me whilst they didn't do the most to look overly fancy, I appreciated their presence and sweet taste. Fruit was served also, I opted for a 'traffic light' situation because I was feeling my 'melon fantasy' that morning! Coffee and orange juice for me, please? With no hangover taking over, sure those two drinks were just enough and they could be enjoyed without a panicked thirst taking over me! I had already quenched that thirsty during the small hours of that morning in my room! Sofitel, you could never judge me! From check-in to check-out, my Sofitel Galaxy Hotel moment turned out to be the best abode for many reasons! The staff spoke my language whilst I tried to speak theirs, the location was ace with a 'Zi Feng Tower' facing room to boot and the rest isn't any of your business! Breakfast before check-out was the one, from Friday night through to Sunday morning, I kept Nanjing on her toes again! I hate lift keys!
