There were doubts as to whether the best tennis stars would participate in this year's edition, after the United States Tennis Association (USTA) proposed a series of strict restrictions to allow the event to take place in pandemic period.
However, the 23-time Grand Slam champion has said she is looking forward to riding the field in New York.
"I have a feeling that the USTA is going to do a very good job of making sure everything is amazing and everyone is safe," she said at a press conference on Wednesday.
"It's going to be exciting. It's been over six months since many of us have played professional tennis.
"I will definitely miss the fans, don't get me wrong. Just being there with this crowd from New York and hearing everyone cheering, I will really miss it in some of these tough games. But it's crazy, I'm excited. "
The tennis calendar has already been severely affected by the pandemic with this year's Wimbledon canceled and the French Open postponed until September.
Novak Djokcivic and Simona Halep were two of the most prominent names to express concern over the organization of the tournament in New York with the virus still prevalent in the United States.
Rafael Nadal, meanwhile, told reporters earlier this month that this was not an "ideal" situation.
However, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Tuesday that the tournament would take place with a number of security measures.
