Has Senator John McCain, who is battling an aggressive form of brain cancer, already planned his funeral?
“I don’t know how much longer I’ll be here.”
The New York Times reported that Senator McCain’s personal acquaintances have said whom the Arizona senator wants at his funeral, and whom he doesn’t.
Those close acquaintances reportedly told the White House that McCain does not want President Donald Trump to attend his funeral and would like Vice President Mike Pence to come instead.
Also, the 2008 GOP presidential nominee wants former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush to be eulogists at his funeral service, which is to be held at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., the source close to McCain said.
Senator McCain, who grew up Episcopalian, faith in God was reinforced when he was kidnapped and tortured by the North Vietnamese during the Vietnam War. He scratched the first seven words of The Apostles’ Creed on his cell wall, “I believe in God, the Father Almighty” and prayed fervently while incarcerated.Friends of McCain have visited him in Arizona, including former Vice President Joe Biden. McCain, who has served in the Senate since 1987 and in the House before that, has not returned to Capitol Hill for several months due to his cancer treatment.
