Senate President Lawan Speaks On APC’s Win In Bayelsa, Kogi

Senate President Ahmed Lawan has hailed the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its win in the Kogi and Bayelsa governorship elections.

Naijaparry understands that the APC claimed the win over the states following the elections held there last weekend.

In a statement on Monday, Lawan hailed David Lyon for being the first governor of Bayelsa state elected outside of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Also, he lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for giving a level-playing ground to all the political parties in Kogi and Bayelsa states.

"The impressive turnout of voters in the two states is a ringing endorsement of democracy by Nigerians as their preferred system, notwithstanding its current challenges," Lawan said.

This is as he commended security operatives for their sacrifices before, during and after the governorship election.

He called on the winners to accommodate those in opposition and develop their states as he urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to do better next time.

Ex-Senator Condemns Violence

A former Senator Shehu Sani has condemned the violence recorded in the governorship elections in Bayelsa and Kogi States.

Naijaparry understands that the governorship elections were on Saturday held in the two states with the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning them.

While speaking about the election, Sani in a tweet noted that "The violence, thuggery, brigandage and disorderliness in the Kogi and Bayelsa Elections is unreservedly condemnable."
