Something that most people know about Kenin and myself is that “If it has a motor, we will drive, ride, or go”. While visiting the absolutely stunning city of Sedona, AZ, Kenin and I had the opportunity to do something unusual for us. We had the chance to take a Segway Tour. Now I have to admit, I am one of the many people that scoffed at the idea of strapping on a helmet and getting on a Segway. They seemed to me to be the perfect mode of transportation for retirees.

Then something happened. I realized that a Segway was a vehicle and I couldn’t be a vehicular enthusiast and turn my nose up at it without giving it a proper go. Also I am truly sexy in a helmet!
Safety looks good on me!
We signed up, got outfitted in our safety gear and took a few runs around the practice track. Before unleashing us onto the streets of Sedona, our Segway tour guide was wonderful enough to let us find our balance and get up to speed.
Practice makes perfect
The Segway turned out to be surprisingly fun. Once you find your balance, you can zoom around and travel distances up and down hills and weave (safely) through traffic. Taking in the fantastic vistas all over Sedona was easy since we didn’t have to exhaust ourselves walking up and down the hills. Our guide even let us pose for a few photo ops.

Sedona has some of the most beautiful scenery in America. Getting to travel in and out of neighborhoods gave us the opportunity to take in so much in such a short time. You couldn’t beat the views.

The “Three Sisters”
By the end of our tour, I felt like a Segway expert. I was a changed woman. I no longer thought of these vehicles as a fun toy for billionaires or a means of getting around for old folks. Segways now have a nice place in my heart as a fun vehicle.
Look ma’ no hands
Sedona Segway made this a fun time for us. The service was amazing and they even offered to pet-sit Zoe while we went on our tour. If you are in the area, look them up and let them know we sent you. It was a fantastic way to get around Sedona and take in some fabulous scenery. It also helps if you look sexy in a helmet.
