I read and loved Burial Rites recently which deals with similar subject matter and have read and seen numerous things about Lizzie Borden and the murder of her parents, most recently the TV series starring Christina Ricci. I was looking forward to this, much-typed book. I really enjoyed the book but I think it was a bit over-hyped. This happens a lot. I've rarely read a hyped book and agreed it deserved all the hype and praise heaped upon it. I liked the fact the chapters are narrated by different characters including Lizzie, her sister Emma and Bridget, a maid so it's not just Lizzie's story. This is a well-written and compelling book just not quite as amazing as I was expecting.
